WHAT WE LOVE:

Vulcain is a Swiss brand that really deserves much more attention than it gets these days. Founded way back in 1858 in Chaux-de-Fonds, the company rose to prominence in the late 1940s with their revolutionary innovation – the first alarm wristwatch, the Cricket.

With a history that could fill a decently-sized book, Crickets went from obscurity to being some of the most desirable watches in the mid-century, even becoming an ongoing tradition for American Presidents to own and wear that started with Truman. When the quartz revolution hit in the ’70s, Vulcain faded from the limelight much like many Swiss watchmakers, however they have recently been making strides to rise back to prominence with success.

Our Cricket here is in excellent vintage condition and comes in the smaller 33.5mm size.
