Six Zero Zero Five

The 6005 is part of the ‘Wild Three’, the Patek Philippe Nautellipse 3770, the Square Vacheron 222 and the Square Royal Oak. The design is quirky but at the same time aesthetically very pleasing. They are not incredibly rare but AP has not manufactured a lot of these so these are fairly difficult to find in very good condition. Today, where the trend is going to watches with integrated bracelets from the 1970s and 1980s this is a very interesting model considering it has strong DNA from the Royal Oak.

Here’s the Audemars Piguet 6005SA in 18K yellow gold. a 32x41mm case that with, with the integrated bracelet has a great size on the wrist as this is the Jumbo version of this model. The watch is in beautiful vintage condition and has been retained exceptionally well for a watch that is older than 40 years. The gold has aged to a very warm color from aging over the last decades. The 6005 is AP’s answer to the Quartz crisis and though most Quartz watches at the time had this mentioned on the dial, this version is one of the few that doesn’t.

The dial itself is a grey Tapisserie dial that is retained in very good condition and much more uncommon than the Black dial. Further the bracelet and the fine Tapisserie dial are the two main characteristics that remind us of the iconic 5402 Royal Oak.

This watch just looks great on the wrist, the size, the colour, the proportions are just amazing. Important fact here is that it costs much less than any large Royal Oak in 18K gold.
